- TEA WITHOUT THEINE -

This is the powdered form of the popular Japanese roasted green tea called Houjicha, which has a sweet, natural flavour and a pleasant roasted aroma.

It is ground using manual stone mills to ensure a smoother flavor and maintain aroma. It is ideal for both cooking and drinks. In Japan it is used as a digestive, isotonic drink and can be drunk at any time because does not have theine!

With our Houjicha powder tea you can make cakes, cookies, ice cream, milk drinks and much more.

Houjicha (焙 じ 茶) which means "roasted tea", is still a green tea, although it is not green.

This type of tea, unlike ordinary green tea, is brown in color. When the leaves are roasted they achieve their unique character and nutty flavor. Houjicha tea can come from Sencha, Bancha or Kukicha tea, but most of the time it is made from slightly large and thick leaves of Bancha or Kukicha, grown in the sun. As these leaves are denser and more structured, they are not as sensitive to heat and can be easily processed by roasting, after steaming and drying.

To roast the tea leaves evenly, a charcoal or sand roasting technique is often used for the last step. By bringing the tea to a high temperature, almost all the theine is extracted from the leaves.
